Soul & Bass from the Ruhrpott
NILUA
Borderless Sound
NILUA is a German soul and bass music singer-songwriter from Essen, Ruhrpott, creating genre-defying Borderless Sound with loop station, piano, guitar and beatboxing.
Passionate self-made music outta my tiny kitchen
Nilua defies genre boundaries with what she calls “Borderless Sound” — a deeply personal fusion of soul, hip-hop, trip-hop, and bass music. Armed with a loop station, piano, guitar, and her own beatboxing, she transforms raw emotion into layered sonic landscapes.
Her songs are letters and diaries drawn from emotional depths — exploring life, love, and desire. Rooted in the Ruhrpott’s gritty authenticity, her clear, energetic voice carries the weight of genuine experience.
Inspired by Lauryn Hill’s raw power in Sister Act 2, she picked up songwriting at age 13. After years with bands and solo acoustic work, she found her true voice in electronic soul — though she initially feared she couldn’t do justice to the genre’s deep roots.
